SWEET AND SALTY PRETZEL BROWNIES
A friend brought a batch of these to a little gathering last weekend. For the life of me I could not figure out what in the devil was in this recipe~ I only know that they were out of this world wonderful~ Never before have I ever had such a delicious brownie and with so much texture` Right away I thought Oats! as I could see small specks of something white through out the chocolate squares. They are full of chocolate and the topping is almost mousse like, chewy and, exactly what the name implies~ All of the above~ Sweet, and Salty! Throw in the chocolate and it's an absolute "winner" ~ This one is really a Must Try~ I dare you to just eat 1 - Guaranteed that it won't happen!
Sweet & Salty Pretzel Brownies
Ingredients
1-1/3 cups(8-oz ) semisweet chocolate chips
4-oz unsweetened baking chocolate, coarsley chopped
1 stick unslated butter
61 saltine crackers,finely crushed
1 can (14-oz) fat free sweetened condensed milk ( not evaporated)
3 cups bite sized pretzels, crushed
Line a 9" square pan with foil and be sure that the ends extend over the sides of the pan for easy removal.
Melt both of the chocolates and the butter in the microwave or over low heat. Melt till smooth. Remove from the heat and add the cracker crumbs( you should have 2 cups) Add the milk as well. Mix well. Fold in 2 cups of the crushed pretzels.
Spread evenly into the prepared pan. Lay the remaining (1) cup of uncrushed pretzels on top. Cover and chill for at least 1-1/2 hours~
Add the topping and chill again before cutting~
Prepare the Topping
Ingredients
1 cup semi sweet chocolate chips
1/4 cup water
2 Tbs butter
1 cup whipping cream, whipped ( Tracy used cool whip)
Melt chocolate chips and butter and water in the microwave, stir till smooth Cool to room temperature. Fold in the whipped cream~ Spread over the brownies~ Chill before cutting~
* Cut into 6 strips then cut into 6 squares~
